Eluned has welcomed a visit of the Economy and Transport Minister, Ken Skates, to Ceredigion and Powys.
The Minister has given the go-head for the construction of a new Dyfi Bridge outside Machynlleth at a cost of £46 million.
Today also marks an important milestone for rail passengers, as work begins on the new £8 million railway station at Bow Street.
Eluned Morgan, AM for Mid and West Wales said:
“Improving our transport infrastructure is hugely important to developing the economy of Ceredigion, Powys and south Gwynedd.
The new Dyfi Bridge will strengthen this key route linking north west and south west Wales along the west coast. For local residents, the repeated closures of the current bridge due to flooding has been extremely frustrating and inconvenient.
“The Welsh Government is committed to developing a rail network fit for the future, to improve the passenger experience and recognising the steps we need to take to tackle climate change. I hope Bow Street will be the first of a number of new stations opening across the region and I look forward to this new link being created and open to passengers later this year.”
