Mid and West AM Eluned Morgan welcomed the Welsh Labour Government’s announcement that they will be extending the Healthcare Travel Costs Scheme (HTCS) to help eligible patients with the cost of travelling to non-urgent medical appointments. The Regional Assembly Member said, “I pointed out to the Health Secretary and Hywel Dda Health Board that it’s important to remember that some patients find it difficult to travel to receive healthcare. I’m pleased to see taken these concerns have been taken on board.
“Many people in Mid and West Wales face lengthy, complex or costly journeys to access hospital and GP services, and we know there’s also often a lack of suitable public transport. This support for patients from the Welsh Government is a vital part of meeting rural healthcare needs in particular”.
